Tesla Autopilot

Tesla, Inc is an automotive and energy company, involved in the specialization of electric cars and solar panel manufacturing. Founded on July 1st 2003 by Elon Musk(CEO ) , JB Straubel(CTO), Martin Eberhard, Marc Tarpenning, Ian Wright.

The Tesla Autopilot is an advanced driver assistance system which consist of lane centering, adaptive cruise control, self-parking, automatic lane change, and summoning through the use of an app. It was first introduced in the in the Tesla Model S followed by the Model X.

The autopilot can follow another car, enabling it to maintain a safe distance from it as it's speed increases or decreases. The Autopilot safety features alerts drivers when an unexpected event on the road occurs, such as a car stopping unexpectedly. If the driver dismisses alert from the autopilot 3 times, the the autopilot automatically disabled, until the car parks. This is to reduce the risk of road accidents and making total reliance to autopilot impossible. It also has an emergency brake to avoid collison with stationary objects.

The autopilot would be able to steer automatically to matain its lane. It can also move to another lane when needed.

The autopilot uses radar system to detect and respond to forward objects. With the help of Ultrasonic Sensors, its sensitivity in detecting nearby cars increases when on a lane or while parking.
The auto pilot has two smart features; Autopark and Summon. The Autopark helps in driving the car to a safe parking spot while the Summon (meaning to call) drives it out either from a garage or a parking lot.

The auto pilot has 8 surround cameras that provides 360 degrees of visibility around the car at up to 250 meters of range. It can detect and observe a second vehicle in front of the vehicle it is already following and also know the difference between a pedestrians, bicyclists/motorcyclists, small cars, and large SUVs/ trucks.

The Front-facing cameras can detect speed limits signs on AP1 vehicles and display the current limit on the dashboard or center display. The Tesla Autopilot is beleived to have better upgrades in the future for a full self-driving car.
